The "Hautpoul Manuscript"
"A strange manuscript from the Hautpoul archives sold at auction last Friday. Apparently a document with the manuscripts was written by a cleric from the RLC area." The manuscript was folded into an envelope and the commentary was enclosed inside, also included was a 1782 copy of the Bugarach Contract of 1307. 1782 was the time of Abbe Bigou.
The capitalised letters in the commentary included in the envelope made of the illuminated page:
"TEMPLE DE JÉRUSALEM,
RAGÈS,
SIX TALENTS D'ARGENT,
DOCUMENT MANUSCRIT,
SUB CYROGRAPHO,
CONSOLATION,
D'UNE PERSONNE ASSASSINÉE,
DÉMON ASMODÉE
LIBER TOBIÆ,
TU AMASSERAS UN GRAND TRÉSOR,
RAGÈS,
EX-BÉTHANIS,
REDDIS CHIROGRAPHUM », ou « REDDAS CYROGRAFUM,
LIBER TOBIÆ "IL EST BON DE CACHER LE SECRET DU ROI » (« SACRAMENTA REGIS »).
IL EST PERMIS AUX JUIFS DE SUIVRE LEURS LOIS »,
PÉRIRA PAR LE GLAIVE ET LE FEU,
IN ARCIS,
IN SACCELLIS,
La cité nommée « RAGÈS » (ou RHADÈS ?), est située dans la montagne « EX-BETHANIS".
"So who had access to the Hautpoul family archives or whatever? Sauniere? Bigou? Someone else?
And whoever it was, could they have written the commentary? Or was it an Hautpoul family member?
Look at the wording of the notice on the commentary that this annoymous hand wrote along with the Book of Tobit medieaval manuscript:
1) What and where is the city of RAGES?
2) Is it talking about cryptograhic manuscripts?
3) What does the amassing of a great treasure.
4) "dans la cité de RAGÈS située dans une montagne inaccessible nommée EX-BÉTHANIS" Where is this? Israel/Jerusalem or somwhere else? Bethany???
5) What or who is CYON? Sounds phonetically like SION. Whats this to do with Tobit?
6) « REDDIS CHIROGRAPHUM », ou « REDDAS . CYROGRAFUM »?? Dont you think it strange that two words are used here in relation to words that sometimes mean RLC? Coincidence or not? ; ) And to do with a kind of cryptogram? Doesnt Reddis Arcis etc remind you of the Hautpoul funery stone?
7 ) IL EST BON DE CACHER LE SECRET DU ROI » (« SACRAMENTA REGIS »). Isnt this an interesting turn of phrase? What has it got to do with Tobit? Absolutly nothing. Where did you read that Tobit had anything to do with a hidden secret of the King? Why are these words in capitals?
8 ) "différant du texte traditionnel de la Vulgate, ainsi que quelques omissions de mots; de plus, l’orthographe des noms propres (noms de personnes ou de lieux) est parfois non conventionnelle". So they had a differing version of the Book of Tobit? That doesnt really matter that much ... lots of texts of biblical manuscripts differ. It would however be an interesting exercise to see the slight differences. What is the provenance of this manuscript?
Doesnt this remind you of anything? Cherisey's CIRCUIT novel has a story line just like this : ) Where it says also: Cet argent était renfermé soit dans des coffres (IN ARCIS), its not referring to Arques is it? ; ) Or, you know, the infamous tombstone?
10 ) "ils remontèrent le courant d’une rivière, où Tobias pêcha un poisson qu’ensuite il fit griller & saler". All i thought of was the SOT PERCHEUR cryptogram that De Sede mentioned!!!!!
1) Bugarach franchises in 1307?
This is a copy, made in 1782 by Siau, notary in Couiza, a settlement reached in 1307 between Pierre de Voisins (Vicini), Lord of Bugarach and Albezu (Albeduno), and the inhabitants of Bugarach .
Paper copy, signed by the notary, at the request of an inhabitant of a farm, against the lady Hautpoul seigneuresse of Bugarach.
This document will be sold late in 2009 or 2010.
I said he is not the original 1307, but the copy of 1782.
2) the trunk of Hautpoul?
Expression ( "the trunk of Hautpoul", "trunk of Hautpoul) by the holders of these documents.
This is likely to be a part of the archives of the family of Hautpou l. This is confirmed by the contents of the documents, citing the family or where she seigniory (Bugarach and other towns in the Aude).
3) Other documents to sell?
From the same source, there will be other documents to be presented in future sales. For example, copy (1782) of "franchises Bugarach" (1307), or a document of 1818 concerning Agly camp.
4) can we see these documents?
In principle, an auction is public: anyone can read the books or manuscripts, anyone can bid. We therefore manuscripts through the day, the day before the sale at Drouot. In addition, it is possible to make an appointment with an expert to see the documents one week before the sale.
I will therefore in due time (no earlier than 15 days before the sale) any person wishing to view these documents.Thank you for an appointment (by email) because the records are not kept on our premises but in the trunk of a company.
5) Do you have expertise manuscripts?
It's my job. I get happy every person who wants an opinion on a document or book. These opinions and estimates are free oral. Although I do not go into issues revolving around Gisors and Rennes le Chateau, I am prepared to give notice purely historical and scientific documents that I would (date, authenticity etc.).
There is a bird like this egret sitting on the shoulder of Tobias in the illustration from the Book of Tobit at the top of the page.
The stained glass windows in the chapel at Mt. Bugarach. The angel with the child is called a "Tobit" window. The Tobit page envelope contains a copy of the Bugarach contract of 1307.
