The Barque of St. Peter, the Fishnet of Judgement, and the Queen of the South
Rogier van der Weyden "St. Michael Weighing the Souls, from the Last Judgement". Gasc refers to the Dipper as the Barque of St. Peter, and his fishnet as the Last Judgement.
She references the Queen of the South with the Last Judgement, because the Queen of Sheba traveled to hear the wisdom of Solomon. Christ said that Sheba would witness that His generation had rejected one who was greater than Solomon.(Here we have Egyptian queens representing the Queen of the South).
Queen Hatshepsut.
Jan van Eyck`s "St. Michael at the Last Judgement" 1420s or 1430s (click to enlarge). Has Gasc touched on the Queen of the South and the feminine depictions of St. Michael at the End of Days?
